  Some of the best home cooking I've had in a long time. The fried green tomatoes we started with had a perfect, crispy, seasoned crust and were nice and hot when they got to our table. After that I had the pot roast, which was easily among the most flavorful, tender, and delicious I've ever had. And since it was a generously-sized portion, I was able to have some for lunch at home the next day. I very much enjoyed the sides of mashed potatoes and mac & cheese as well. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, even with the place packed full and a few groups waiting to be seated, all before noon on a Saturday. This was my first visit to Maxine's, and I'm definitely looking forward to going back!

  It's hit or miss. I've had some good meals, and had some not so much. Skip the over priced underwhelming dessert but get a damn good burger! The salads where whatever but an awesome pot pie! This is an awesome American food place so stick to the diner type food and you won't be disappointed. Much better than Gracie's around the corner. There's a reason it's always packed!

  Delicious! The Griddle Cakes are huge and absolutely scrumptious. The bacon and sausage are delicious as well. Basically everything you get will be delicious. It might take some time to get sat on a weekend, but it is worth the wait. If you have a big party of people, do call ahead, however, you cannot reserve a table less than 24 hours ahead of time.
